About Us For over 25 years, the Yorkshire Concertina Club has been celebrating this wonderful instrument in all its forms – the Anglo, the various forms of Duet and the English. We meet regularly at the Corner House in Moortown, North Leeds (easy bus access & good parking) on the third Sunday of most months (12.00 noon) to share our enthusiasm for the instrument and play a wide range of music, from Appalachian to Zydeco, with all styles in between catered for - eg folk, baroque, brass band, classical, tango... We are constantly amazed and delighted by just how well so many styles of music are suited to the Concertina. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a concert-platform virtuoso, we want to hear from you. We can offer introductory experience of the instrument & guidance on purchase, playing, tutor books etc for anyone interested in trying out the Concertina, improving their playing or just having a great time with like-minded folk. For those who enjoy a challenge, we also have regular sessions playing arrangements from sheet music under our experienced band-leader, Carolyn, using a range of different instruments including treble, baritone & bass concertinas. We regularly invite guest players who may be great performers, teachers or experts in particular styles and we have even played in public as a Club on several occasions. So – do come along or contact one of the Committee if you have any initial queries. We’d love to see you – even if you are not yet the proud owner of a Concertina - you can be sure of a warm welcome .
Meetings Meetings usually take place on the third Sunday of the month, upstairs in the Corner House Club, 266 Lidgett Lane, Leeds, LS17 6QE, from 12noon to 5pm.
